I'm coming from near Cincinnati to Lanier in a couple weeks. We'll be staying at bolding mill camp ground. Last year we did this trip and never made it near main lake. We'll be there during the week so boat traffic will be minimal. any suggestions on areas to hit? Anyone know the current temps? Thanks!

Amazing it wasn't but a degree or two warmer at Oconee Saturday, (what considering how much less volume and depth it has).

Maybe it was a bazillion Skeeters scooting everywhere that warmed it up!

I can say that we found hardly anything shallow, other than a few LM dinks.

They seem to. I would have thought they would go first but they don't seem to here

Yes for the most part. When we have these warm winters it does change things as well as fronts moving in and out this can cause an overlap. Spots tend to bed deeper so the water temps are different vs back waters. You may see a few stragglers but for the huge waves the large mouth do tend to go first.

In 2015 I found a large flat in about 6 FOW of spots on beds in the first week of May on Allatoona. Knew they were there to spawn as one that went for the ride back to weigh-in actually dropped eggs in my livewell.

Galts Ferry. Lot of guys hated that lake, I always liked it. If the average size spot ever gets a little better (like Lanier, but doubtful it will ever get THAT good) it will be a REALLY fun lake. And if you know where to go the largemouth fishing is pretty good too
