Lightbulb Pete's 518vx is in the fibeglass shop for repairs.......right outside my office door!

    I didn't crash it!

A lot of you may not be aware of this, but at Pro's Choice Marine we have a full service, factory authorized fiberglass shop on site. Not down the road or in the next town, but actually about 100' from my office door. This is very handy for our customers.......when you drop your boat off for service you can also get your scratches fixed, hull buffed, or when the Corps of Engineers suddenly drops the lake a foot or two and you find a stump the hard way, it can all be taken care of right on site. And if by chance your boat needs warranty work, this shop is a factory authorized Ranger, Nitro, and Triton repair center.

My boat is a 2002 Ranger 518vx and is in excellent to well above average condition, but has been fished as that is what they are built for. I wanted to get a few things done to it, and thought you guys would like to see the progress. The running surface had its' share of scrapes and gouges, a few chunks out of the chines and near the drain plug, and fractures near the bow eye from just a little too much gas when power loading onto the trailer. Nothing out of the ordinary for a boat this age, but nonetheless I wanted to get it taken care of.

First, here are a few "before" pictures.......

Unfortunately I did not get a "before" picture of the bow fractures, but here it is after it was ground out and the glass is being built back up.......

Here is the glass that is being used for the repair.......

Those pics in the air were taken before the repairs! The ol' 518vx is a pretty slick rig if I don't say so myself.

I sure wish I could have sat out there with my GoPro and Nikon and documented the whole thing, but this was all done while I was working. Every once in a while I would walk out back and snap a few pics, and I was always amazed at the progress.

Here the glass repair at the bow is complete, and the area is being prepped to be sprayed with gelcoat.......

Back under the boat you can see where a repair is being made between the two pieces of tape. This strake had some pretty good gouges in it!

There were a few scrapes and gouges along the outer hull as well. I kind of freaked out when I walked by and saw all of this because it looks really bad at this point!!!
