They all have Lifetime warranties these days to the original owner, but only basscat honors the warranty for all owners of the boat. All others drop the lifetime for the 2nd owner.

To be clear, does the BassCat warranty cover blisters?
No, although a few brands have fixed them under warranty for people. Blisters, cracks, and fading is specifically named in there as not covered.
Out of curiosity why do some boat companies limit the "lifetime" warranty to either the first or second owner? Either it's a lifetime warranty or not.
Because new boat companies want sales. And adds value to buying a new boat instead of a 2nd or 3rd hand boat.

Better read the fine print on the Merc warranties. You only get 3 years of Platinum and 2 years of Gold. You can extend the Gold coverage for an additional 3 years.
The Evinrude G2's are offering a full top to bottom 10 year warranty right now. That also includes all steering components since they are integrated. Something the Merc's don't have.
Better read e's warranty 2. 3 years from BRP, 7 from a 3rd party. Not everything is included after 3 years. Rumors of an hour limit too.

Only if the 3rd party is still in business.
Not wanting or trying to start a pissing match because most brands have had issues the last few years; but how long has the longest running model of evinrude been in production? Have any of them gone over 10 years? Personally I can't get over the cowling shape, I'm just too conservative for it I suppose.
The cowling shape is different. But it also has to accommodate the oil tank and steering. Plus that entire cowling down to the lower unit can be taken off in minutes. No other outboard, as far as I know, has a lower unit reservoir under the cowling for quick visual inspection of the lower unit fluid. And the tilt tube on those motors is just the beefiest thing I've ever seen. Who knows how long, or for how many hours, these motors will last. With 10 years of warranty does it really matter?
Actually, just talked with my buddy that's a BRP certified tech. He said the standard warranty on the G2's is a full 6 years through BRP. The remaining 4 years is still through BRP as their BEST (BRP Extended Service Terms) and still handled in-house by BRP, but has a flat $50 deductible. So, no third party involved.
I believe most hulls are warranted mainly for structural integrity. Cosmetic blemishes, stress cracks, and blisters are not covered, although the manufacturer may graciously choose to repair it for you, especially if you recently bought the boat new. So inspect that boat closely before signing the papers and pulling it off the lot.
