    Riding mower problem

    If this isn't allowed, delete.
Have a cub cadet, xt1 Enduro series mower. Kohler 7000 series 24hp.
The issue, having problem starting it, especially after it sits for awhile. Pull the air filter, put a couple drops of in it, it fires and stays running.
Have moisture around valve covers, is that part of the problem?

Fuel through the air intake helps to start when the carb is having problems - It is carbureted right?

See if the gas cap has a vent in it and if it does, make sure the hole is not plugged.

Does it have a fuel shut off valve? I have a Scag with a Kohler and had problems with the carb needle and float sticking open. It filled the engine up with fuel. Luckily I caught it before starting it. This can also make your oil level too high and push out the gaskets like that. Check your oil and smell it, if it smells like gas, that could be your problem.

There is also a good small-engine repair shop right on Broadway in town, Woodcrest is the name, I believe.

It didn't have a fuel shutoff, I just added one. Just pulled the carb, cleaned it. Removed the valve covers and resealed them.
    Hopefully that'll do it.
Yes, woodcrest is on Broadway. Bluff Equipment is out by the interstate also.

I pulled the carb, wasn't dirty, cleaned it anyway. Put back together. Same problem. Called the place I bought it from. Was told with that engine, it has to be choked, no matter if it just recently ran. Time will tell.
Thanks to all for the replies!
