    Is the sales guy fibbing???

I had a buddy call me today and he said he was looking at some skeeters down the road from his work. He said the sales guy told him that There is absolutely no difference between a 225,250,and 300 SHO other than the computer/chip. And right now if you boat with a 250 and sent in the chip or whatever to be erased and reprogrammed for a 300 that he could do it and it only costs $1200.

said the reason was Yamaha would have to guess how many 225,250 and 300 to make ahead of time.

I call BS on that. Anyone else want to pull the BS flag on that or is this true??

Sounds true.. Makes sense to have a bunch of Sho motors ready for decals and ECU to put in based on what is ordered.. I had a 250 Sho before I got my 225 Sho now and it looks the same and the parts are all interchangeable.. Only difference was decals and ECU.

It's true... There are many BBC guys that have done it,, I thought the cost was $600 to flash the ECU.

Yamaha is practicing Lean Manufacturing in the truest form. Inventory stickers / decals / labels and ECU's for Final Assembly. Manufacture / stock component parts for a single assembly and generate the variations (add stickers / ECU) at minimal cost to the business. Very smart from the business prospective. Labor rates aren't the only reason we struggle to be competitive in the States.

From reading here and elsewhere online, I was under the impression that the 200hp was in this group as well and could be reflashed to a 250hp tune.

Yes, a 200sho can be flashed to a 300 program. I would like the first posters salesman to get me a 300sho. Cj

Around here $1200 will get you a whole new computer for the new horsepower you want and $600 will get you the flash from hydrotec. You can go from 200 to 300 with any model between that range in a sho.
