    Stacking jackplates.

My xb2003 has a 9" plate, everything I read says the best all round plate is a 14". I can get a 6" local to me for $100. Can I go this route safely? I've heard of bolting one plate to another never read anything about the pro's and con's of doing it.

I don't see the difference between bolting a jack plate to static plates and bolting two jack plates together. I did it for a lot years on a Champion I had.

Should have asked -- what motor are you running ???
If you are running a 2.4 or a 2.5 that much set back is what is recommended.
If it's a heavy motor you should not need near that much.
