UNDERSTANDING MY JACKPLATE
am I wrong when I say that a 10" jackplate has a 10" setback from the transom to the outboard, or is the 10" refer to the vertical adjustment that is possible .I recently bought a 8" jackplate from a dealer and the setback is 10" so I'm a bit confused. Thanks any info is appreciated

The size refers to setback, same for all brands. Sounds like dealership got you wrong product.

So you got a 10" JP in an 8" JP box?Sounds like someone packed it wrong. Inches does refer to the amount of set back.

You would think someone would have noticed when it was installed.

That's what I thought thanks guys I think they just swap out so many that they got confused no big deal I'm hoping I have enough slack in my steering that the10" will work. Thanks again guys

Make sure your brand of boat can handle that much of a setback.
