    Grenada Lake - Crappie

    Guys,

I have made plans to come down in the first of April with the family to experience the legendary crappie fishing on Grenada lake. We are staying at the state park and planning to fish mostly the Choctaw/Graysport areas. Is the lake safe to run using a map card?

Also any advice on fishing is appreciated as far as techniques go.

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Bart

That end can get kinda sketchy if you don't know it well. For me its tougher to navigate when its a little above normal pool than when its below. There are some tricky stumps/trees between Choctaw and the Crossing bridge that make me nervous when they disappear. Just be careful and definitely be extra careful running on the south bank on that end. Lots of shallow water, islands, high spots that sneak up quick.

Oh, and I don't fish for crappie but I have caught several HUGE crappie out of Grenada on crankbaits while bass fishing. I grew up on Enid and the Grenada crappie are twice as thick. 3 pounders aren't uncommon at all.

Thank you. I appreciate the information. I have a lakemaster card and there is a lot of detail for Grenada but it don't show where the stumps are.

Be Careful lake is muddy and low. The weekend rains probably helped a bit.
