    2017 200 Pro XS RPM

What RPM should I be getting with my 2017 200 Pro XS? With a 24P Tempest, I am getting it up to 5600-5640 on the Smart Craft. I am going to need to try a 23P if the motor can get up to 5800-5900.

The boat is a Ranger Z518C. I would think it should be faster than 63mph with a 200 Pro XS but that is all I am getting at 5600 RPM.

You should not be trying to achieve 5800 - 5900 RPM'S. Max WOT RPM should be 5750.

What's the idea on them changing the 200 pro xs to carbon reeds, gray direct injectors, higher fuel and air pressures, and different pistons and heads if they're not gonna make the max rpm 6100 like the other 3 liter pro xs'? It's because they know what kind of hp it will make at 6100

I'm running a 24 Tempest Plus. In cooler weather I tend to hit rev limiter, but it's running 70 mph and that is fast enough

What's the point? To keep the horsepower within that 10% allowance. :) Merc did this with the XR6 25 years ago. They still do it today. Only thing is, they actually do limit the RPM to stay out of trouble.

I have the same boat with atlas hydro plate also with the tempest 24 I can run 67 68 mph @ 5800 rpm, loaded with me and my boy. I've seen 71 with light fuel just me and my buddy.

On a new motor 5640 is good and it will loosen up a little and give you another 50 rpm's but if it's only running 63 something else is wrong.

Recommended max RPM's is indeed 5750.
