12 psi is the minimum. That said, you are tapped out at 50 mph with the 22p so you don't know if you will get more water pressure at a higher speed. If you are at 3 1/2" then drop it to the next bolt which will raise the motor. Even if your numbers improve you will still be dogged by that prop. Just about all Z7s with 150s run perfectly hovering around 3" PTP with a 23 Tempest. Keep us posted on your progress, please.

Does it have a hotfoot? If so, check to make sure that the pedal is not adjusted so it hits the back wall of the console preventing it from maxing out throttle

I had a 24p but was only doing 4900 rpm and 49 mph. The new 22p gets me 5400-5500 rpm but only barely hits 50 or 49.9 on GPS.. Not sure how a 23p would make a difference..
I will lower it 1 notch and maybe get a 6" jackplate..
If that doesn't work, I'm just going to live with it..

its tough because i dont know the new boats that much but my 884 savage and many more on here all run 150s 175s and are all around the 3-1/2" to 3-1/4" P2P range and almost everyone i have talked to run a 23p tempest and are all running high 50s low 60s. im not sure on the year of your motor but i would think you should be running 5700-5900 RPM at wide open?

Okay back up a bit .... how much fuel are you carrying?
    My maximum is 1/2 a tank .
Once I filled up the Ram and left the pump going in the boat until I heard it click off
I COMPLETELY FILLED THE BOAT! It felt like I was carrying a herd of big girls to a Jenny Craig convention..
I think its like 300 lbs extra

I did just fill it when I put the new 22p prop on..I'll run it this weekend to see if any mph can be gained with less fuel...

A jack plate will is probably going to fix all your issues. May as well do that for 200 when your moving the motor

Its very known that the 10s-14s especially had hooked hulls. Im experiencing the same problem. Max speed 44mph, 5100 rpm, high rooster tail, side splash in front of consoles, wants to take me left and right going in a straight line wether its at 5 mph or 44mph.

Easy enough to look at the hull and see if there is a hook, as mentioned above a longer straight edge is helpful for this.

Just for reference. I have a 2013 Z7 with a 150 proxs. Prop 24P Temp +. No Jack Plate. Boat runs 61-62 GPS. That is with around 36-37 Gallons of fuel, my wife and I and fishing tackle. I weight 205 wife is around 120.
I did have the hull replaced in 2018.
