1989 184sc with 1992 evinrude intruder spitfire 150...prop?
I boat at an altitude of about 5400ft....the boat came with unnamed ss 20 pitch prop. It gets out of hole pretty good....and has full load top end of 49 or 50. I had it 55mph by myself with light load at 5150ft. What would be a better prop for this setup? Thanks!

I've been running a 23p Tempest and a 24p Raker on my DC with success. Low 60's.

What RPM's you turning? Motor is rated 4500-5500 RPM with the 150 HP rating at 5000 RPM. High altitude kills a motors performance.

At 5K feet you can't run the same prop as the sea level guys, so a 20-22 will be about right.
That boat runs really good with a 6" rapid jack plate, it makes the biggest difference when you're packing a load.
I'd try to find a 20" tempest with a omc hub, or get a raker worked.

Forgot to mention....running 4900-5000 rpm.

Decided to hook up a tiny tach to motor....got 4600 rpm yesterday...not 4900 like I thought..tach on dash is old and I don't trust it. Speed was 48 gps....2 guys loaded....1/2 tank gas....empty wells....Pad is 3.75....raised from 4.75. All in all ran better...lost some bow lift....would like to see more rpm...speed...and much lower rooster tail. I'm thinking I need the suggested props? Do I drop to 4.25 with current prop? It's on a powerlift manual jackplate...6".
Forgot to ask....can you just use the flo torq 2 hub kit to run a tempest?

Merc has a hub kit for the tempest to use on the Johnson. It ends in Q2. The Tempest plugs uses the PVS plugs so you can play with the venting.
