About ready to install new HDSI ducer...previous owner had a DI already mounted...Trying to decide whether to mount in basically same location or move to improve image reception....curious where you guys have mounted yours. Is it not mounted to the jackplate or holeshot plate? That is where I would mount it.

Take some pics of your current install then. Is it on a transom step?
Mine is mounted off of the jack plate. SI is worthless at speed anyway. But HOW does a transducer on your jack plate prevent the boat from fitting in the garage, since the motor sticks out 3' BEHIND the jack plate anyway? Can't get my head around that...

What VLO do you have? On my 186 i used a stern saver mount the ducer to.
