    Ultrex Shaft Length

I have a 45" shaft on my boat now and was told to think about getting a 52" if fishing the great lakes due to size of waves. Wasn't sure if the shafts on the ultrex models were adjustable as I also fish shallow waters too. Tried doing google search and didn't see anything about that. Thanks for any info.

Not only is the shaft longer the mount is longer also. Looks odd at first but think it will be fine. I sure won't miss the motor cavitating in open water waves.

The 45" shaft, at least mine anyway, measures 48". If I can help, let me know.

Just measured my 52".. It actually is a half inch short of 52".

Another consideration is you loose 3 inches of shaft to the adjustment collar.

so youre saying the 45 is actually only 42? how does that differ from the fortrex?

Don't know never had a fortrex. Just saying if you are looking at shaft length there are 3 inches not usable.

im sure MK 45 is the same for fortrex as well as ultrex, if the 3" collar is taking up length this ^^^^ should be explaining that. Also if you have a tm and don't have issues with surfacing it how you fish where you fish don't get a longer one.

there fishermen and engineers they know how to keep specs the same

yea i currently have a 45 inch fortrex. the prop will come almost all the way out of the water with certain wakes. i was going to go with a 45 inch ultrex because i don't want the 52 inch to stick out further from the side of the boat. if the collar is 3 inches, then the 52 is actually 49 inches so it might not be so bad. or do i have things backwards and the 45 is actually 48 to compensate for the collar?

I was looking at mine last night and it looks like the Ultrex uses up more shaft. (if that makes sense) So a 45 is really more like a 42, I went with the 52 but most of my fishing is done on the great lakes.
