    Cool ZX225 @ 75mph

For all you "nay sayers" out there, I recorded my boat running 75+ on SML today. I have been running 76+ mph at sea level, so I took my boat up to the mountains to see what it would do at a higher elevation. Here's a video, so you can see for yourselves.

I'm assuming no sticks, low fuel, light to no tackle etc? My FX20 ran 83.2 MPH down river when I first bought it. Once I put all my stuff in boat (1) person, 5 gallons of fuel, no sticks, no tackle etc. loaded up 74 tops now. Reality, weight kills speed. I truly doubt pro's boats can run very fast with all the crap they carry plus a cameraman etc

This was my first time on the water since October, so no tackle yet. Last summer, I was running 76+ with tackle and 3/4 tank of gas at sea level. I've never run it empty at sea level. I know it will run 74mph tournament loaded at sea level though. That's with a 225hp SHO.

A little chine walking, mostly caused by the cross wind/waves. It walked real bad as I was slowing down. That's just cause I let off the throttle before trimming down. This was my first time behind the wheel in about 6 months. That's why the second run was better. I guess I got a little "rusty" over the winter.

26 Tempest Plus. It was worked by Mark C. He still tells me the T-1 will be faster, but I like the Tempest. It's easier to drive.

When I was in my 30's speed was a necessity at 62 yrs of age, Speed is no longer a factor
Except on tournament day takeoff!! LOL

I had my 21i to 72.5 today w/ 1 power pole and tanks full of gas. live wells empty. I thought that was decent for this size of boat. no chine walk and it was windy. I feel much more comfortable in this rig than in my last bass cat puma. I have the 300 hdpi

You might have to go full screen to see it, but I was holding 75.5mph at 6020 rpms just before I shut it down. Based on a topo map I found online, SML is about 790 feet above sea level. That's the highest elevation I have ever had a boat at. I'll be back at sea level today. Hopefully, I'll get more video.

I think 74 is great for a225 SHO, IF YOU HAVE TO GROWN MEN IN THE BOAT, I HAVE A FX20 that will run 76.6 with full load of gas and tackle and two fat guys with the 27t1, with the 26FXP ONLY 75 at best but mostly 74......fat boys bout 470 lbs..... my bout runs faster with premium gas over mid grade.......

Now that sounds about right for an FX20. It sounds like you got it dialed in. I have only reached 76.6 running light, but I haven't tried premium gas. Yamaha recommends 87 octane for the 225 SHO, so that's what I use.

They must have just changed it. The 250 was the only one that required 89 octane when I bought my boat. That's one of the reasons I got the 225 instead.
