    Remote Drain Plug

Has anyone installed and used the Flow Rite remote plug? If you have, how do you like it and where did you mount the control knob? Do you know what size the hole in the transom is for the existing plug? I am considering buying one, it seems as time goes by it gets harder to get to the drain plug. NM has a new regulation that requires removal of the plug to make sure no water is in the bilge, this means while trailering on any highway it must be pulled or subject to a ticket.

I had one in one of my boats and will put one in the new boat. They seem to work great. I had a bracket made by Lou and mounted on side of gas tank at top. While you are at the back of boat just open lid and it is right there. Very easy. I can not think of the size. Sorry but you will have to crawl under and measure. Get the shortest as possible..

I swear as old as I am getting and as hard as it is to get up and down I should think about it.

Does the Flow rite replace everything or can we just use the male portion and the remote?

From what I can tell looking at, it looks like you would have to install all of it as ours are threaded and I'm sure it would need a smooth bore to work

I looked at their web site this morning and the plug housing needs to be removed and the remote housing needs to take it's place. It requires a 1" hole which I believe is what is in the transom, just not sure.

When you installed the remote plug did you have to open up the transom hole or just remove the plug housing, did the original screw holes work or did it require new holes. Just looking for as much info before I Buy, looking for a easy job not a all day ordeal. Thanks

I put one in my boat. Easy install but did have to run a 1" bit in the original plug hole to get it to fit. I used a hole saw to open up a hole in the bulkhead between the drivers side battery box and gas tank to mount the switch. It has hung up on me a few times and I've had to pull on the plug to get it to open but usually it works well.

    Have you greased the o-ring?

Yes it is, the cable pulls the plug in and push's it out. Connor, you were right, no modifications. I mounted a alum angle to the port knee brace to install the handle. I should grease the o-ring. Hardest part was getting the cable up from between the transom and gas tank.

Here's mine, I installed it right in the panel to the right of the hour meter, very easy install.
