    February sucks...

It has been about a month since deer season closed. Turkey season still a month away. Ice just came off so bass fishing isn't quite here yet. Ground is still frozen so can work up food plots. My buddies are begging me to go chase snows with them. But man that some work! Anyone else in a February funk?

I'm spending February shooting long distance. Very rewarding.

If it can make you feel better, there is about 4-5 feet of snow on the ground up here in Canada. I can't even imagine when my boat will be able go back in the water. Just sayin ... there is worst !

There's always prairie dog shooting and coyote hunting. I do need to do some management on the K9 population so maybe I'll charge up the FoxPro and get after them.

Coyote, fox, rabbit, hogs, and coons are always chased in February. Coons are out of season but on your own property they are fair game. Egg eating bastages. If you haven't gone coon calling, try it. You'll become addicted.

Got some TSI to do in the woods as well. There is always something to do, oh and finish the basement.

I am direct seeding about 10,000 tree/shrub seeds (red oak oak, elm, service berry, elder berry, caragana) this spring. So one of my many projects it's to mow and till these areas in preparation to do this. Also removing all the cross fences on my property. I'd like to get a couple hog panel bale blinds built by turkey season. So there is plenty of work to do.

Crow hunting is a blast. That's what we're doing through February.

I've never been on Buchanan so I know nothing about it other than it has pretty clear water. As far as tackle Tx rig baby brush hogs, Senkos and Trick worms should work well there, Swimbaits too. Get on some windy points and Rattle Traps and Square Bills will do good. You can always look on the Texas Fishing Forum, I'm sure there's some Buchanan advise there, may have to do a search though.

Its been tough for me as well, lots have been killed around here lately in the hunts. I think my spots just aren't producing.
