    Yamaha prop question

Question for you Yamaha guys. I have had this boat for about 3 years and the 225 HPDI has been a great motor so far. Only had 95 hours when I bought it August 2014. I've never been a big performance guy but this boat should be doing more it seems. It has a GREAT hole shot but only runs about 61-62 fully loaded with 2 people and gear. 64.5 is best I've seen by myself. Very rarely do I run it over 4500 rpms but would still like the best performance. I got a good deal in a new 6" plate this weekend so I took the Rite Hite off that I assume had been on since new and put this one on.

This got me thinking. I am at 3.25 prop to pad but this motor is only turning about 5300. This is the prop that is on it. Is this a T1? Any advice appreciated.

That is not the recommended T1 or Pro Seies Yamaha prop.... Most likely a Saltwater Series. Depending on your boat will help decide what prop you need. You also might not have enough set back. The HPDI LU has less bow lift than the OX66 LU, You probably need more.

Looks to be a Performance XL. It was recommended by Yamaha for the V/VX200 and V/VX225 models. Not to say that it won't work with a VZ225. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Propellers IMO are like women. What one man finds desirable another man won't. You got to try many women (I mean propellers) to get to the one that works best for you.
