They are a pretty nice unit for the price. Lots of features for a decent price. There are a lot of guys in the Lowrance forum that know these units inside and out. If I was going to buy a Lowrance it would be one of these because the HDS units get pricey quick.

I just bought 2 for the boat and installed them. Very easy setup. I will be on the water next weekend to try them out.

They work great. Once you fine tune it for what you want to see, the pictures are remarkable. Look on U-tube for the best settings. There are some great videos on setups.

What are you comparing the pics to? Lowrance Gen1's or touches?

I have an Elite 9 Ti and it is really nice. I was told by a Lowrance pro staffer that they are basically the HDS touch Gen 2 with a slightly different appearance. They have fast processors and they are VERY responsive. The totalscan ducer is nice also. I like them because they are ALMOST the same as the HDS touch gen 3's and they are half the price.

Yes sidescan (with the TotalScan transducer) and yes can be networked. I really have no idea how Lowrance sells so many of the HDS units. I know the Elite TI's will be my next units. I'm sure there's some set of features I'm missing.

No Ethernet, so no waypoint sync although they do have NMEA which allows limited waypoint sharing. No WiFi.

Can you share waypoints and otherwise network the units via WiFi or Bluetooth? I'm assuming to share a transducer you'd need to link them via NMEA.

Wifi is for downloading maps and updates from Lowrance service, basically its very limited......BT is for connecting to your phone/tablet to run the app which reflects whats on your FF screen to phone/tablet, and if you have power poles, you can connect to it and operate them from the unit. No sharing waypoints from either of those BUT you have limited waypoint sharing on the NMEA network.....and what i mean by "limited" there is no wp syncing involved like there is with ethernet on the HDS units. These units do not share transducers. That is only done with ethernet and the only units that have ethernet are the HDS units.
