    Rec TEC pellet grills

I really like this. All of the reviews are awesome. Anybody else have one? I want to build it into an island for an outdoor kitchen.

I got mine about ten weeks ago and love it. Everyone you cook for is going to love it. Get the grill grates and you can grill steaks or burgers that are great. I have seen a picture on the Rec Tec Facebook page that someone posted that is what you are looking to do.
    Enjoy your grill.

The only regret I have, is not getting the Rec Tec sooner. You can go to a website called pellet heads and see lots of recipes and good tips.

Thanks for the info. What about cooking time vs propane. I found a chart from rectec about cooking times. Seems to take about 20-30 mins to get to 350 but cooking times after that are about the same if not quicker.

It does take some time to get up to temperature . Usually I turn the grill on and go into the kitchen to prep what ever I am cooking for dinner, letting whatever meat we are cooking get close to room temp. Getting sides started and by that time the grill is ready,so I am not really waiting for it. I can set the grill on 450 with the grill grates in place. Pat out 1/2 pound burgers cook on the first side 56 min. Turn and cook another 6 min. And they are the juiciest and most moist burger I have ever eaten. We have children that will come over with meat and ask dad will you cook this for us.

Do you mean 5-6 mins? Ive watched a lot of videos and they show the burgers on the sear plates and that gets really hot and only takes about 6 mins a side to cook a burger. Which plates do you have ? This is the searing kit. Probably what you are referring to? Thanks again for the information.

And you can also flip any of the grill grates over for a flat surface.

Thanks for the link. I saved it. Those work good for burgers and steaks? Fit the 680?

I'm sure they would. ..check out the dimensions of both..This is the fun part about taking the plunge in something new...You learn a lot and hear a lot. And you get to choose what you feel will work for you.

I have a few buddies that use them and like them. Personally, if I were going to get a pellet grill, I would get a Yoder Smokers comp series for the build quality alone.

Its just me and my wife as well. Would like to smoke a turkey or do brisket or a prime rib. Plus we cook for company once in a while. Is this still big enough? Most of the time itll just be the wife and I. How much or what size stuff have cooked on the mini?

It is just the wife and I at our house. 4 to 5 times a year I grill for our kids, wife's,husbands and grandchildren which is at least 18 people. We have friends over periodically and the 680 just fits for us.

I got my 680 3 months ago...one of the best investments I have ever made. Folks rave about the outcome.
