    Mounting Motor To Jack Plate

Which mounting hole on the motor should you use to mount the motor to the jack plate. Jack plate is a manual Hydro Dynamics 6" Champion plate, or does it mater which mounting hole you use. Boat is a 95' Champion 186 SCX motor is a 2010 Mercury 175 ProXS. Original motor was 175EFI mounted on transom from the mfg. Dealer that installed new motor mounted it in center hole.

    Thanks

Really depends on how much movement you think you'll need if you're planning on adjusting it for the best performance. I mounted mine in the 3rd hole and it worked out fine.

Can the very bottom mounting holes be used?

Put the plate at half travel.
Mount the motor in the hole that makes 3 1/2” shaft under pad the closest.

That's what I would like to do, but I don't know if a Suzuki 250SS should be mounted on the bottom holes. Doesn't seem to be enough "meat" there. I would have to use those two holes to get to the adjustment you are talking about. My jack plate is all the way up and I am at 3" below pad. Motor mounted in middle mounting holes.

    I hear you.
So do the best you can with what you've got. Put it on the second set of holes and set you plate, it is what it is.
