Had a 1994 with a 115 Johnson. Loved that boat! A deck extension really makes it a great fishing platform! Tows very easy as well.

Had a 95 R70 sport with a 115 Merc. Was a upper 40,s boat that ran well and fished great. No issues.

Tight for three people. Great boat otherwise.

Had a '94 R72 with a 115 Merc. Enjoyed the boat a lot (my first bass boat). My only big complaint was that it took forever for that boat to get on plane, and I had major issues with porpoising at lower speeds. I'm sure a jack plate would help a lot with that, and maybe a hydrofoil too. Also, that boat is rated for a 130 HP motor, so maybe with a 115 it was just a tad underpowered. Like jeremyt said, mine would do upper 40's. Like all Ranger boats, it's going to be a solidly built boat, and I agree that the deck space was really good for a 17' boat, provided you have the deck extension. Like a lot of 17' and under boats, mine had a 12V trolling motor standard. It would move the boat well with no current or wind to deal with. Once I swapped that out for a 24V trolling motor, there was a world of difference and I could fish in wind and current much better. Congrats and enjoy it!

I had a 2001 R73 with a 125 carb Mercury. The boat treated me great and never had any issues with it. On a good day I could hit 50 and it rode nice for a 17 foot boat. The only thing I did not like about mine was the dual console and that made the rod lockers for 6'6" and under rods. I had the deck extension and it was plenty of room to fish up front and move around.

    Makes your boat longer!

Nah that's a deck extension not a boat extension. It goes in the cut out where the step up to the front deck is. Makes your platform to walk around on bigger.

My 1st boat was 95' R70 Super Sport with 115 Evinrude. Loved that lil boat. It came with a flipping deck extension.
