    Talon quick disconnect plug

Has anyone found an alternative way to add a disconnect plug to your Talon power cable? Minn Kota's option is way overpriced.

We used Neutrik Powercon True1 connectors:

    http://www.neutrik.us/en-us/power/po...true1/nac3mx-w

(panel mount through the transom and a cable mount plug on the talon cable). They're ip65 when mated and thr panel mounthas a rubber cap to keep water out when thr talons sre off or disconnected. Not technically rated for the full current of the talons, but they're designed for 250VAC.

The only regret is we put the connector above the mount instead of to the side which is a little tight to get to when the talons are on. A couple inches inboard would makw all thr diggerence, but not worrh drilling another hole in thr transom. We disconnect them when covering the boat for travel since the cover on the Alumacraft interferes with the connector.

We take the talons off for trolling, as we alternate between small lake bass fishing to big water walleye & great lakes salmon & trout.

I bought a Marinco waterproof twist lock. Mounted it by my battery charger plug. Has a watr proof flap on it when not being used. I just unplug when done. Easy day!!

I wasted $175 on 2 MK plugs...one disentegrated after 3 years and failed so I replaced with the above....basically the same thing at a fraction of the price.

61B1Di5yXCL__SL1001_.jpgThis is what I would do... Mount inside the bilge, so you can reach it easily from outside the boat... No loose wires...

A Little Late to the game, but Deutch connectors are used in Marine applications all the time. I went with 3 Pin to be able to run the alarm wire as well.
