One of my favorites from last night's bull riding event I photographed. This is my 2nd year (and only 2nd time to photograph this type event) and enjoyed it greatly. I used a monopod mounted flash powered by an external battery pack this year. I realize I have a ghosting issue so, hopefully, next year's images will be better. I should have upped my flash power to overpower what little lighting was present. But, I've read how bulls can react violently when strobed. Ah, they were angry enough without me adding fuel to their fire! I had a few buzz by me about 4 feet away with only a gate panel to slow them down if they chose to say hello to my flash.

640/sec, f2.8, ISO 6400, flash power set to 1/16 power.

I've been looking at this lens and the tamron 150-600 G2. Have read lots of comparisons between the 2 but haven't made a decision. All of my lens except one are Nikon. If my wife was rich I'd get Nikon's 600mm f/4. BTW nice shot of that Eagle.

Thank You! I have been looking at all of the primes... If I could just win the lottery, I would have the 200mm f/2, 300 f/2.8, 500 f/4 and 600 f/4 . I have the Tamron 150-600 G1... But it has been sent in for repair under warranty, and I don't know if I'll ever get it back. I sent it in 12/10/16 for a burnt out focus motor... Still no lens as of 3/1/17. I was looking at the G2 during this time but, seeing how their customer service works... I got the Nikon 200-500 instead, and will sell the G1 if I ever get it back.

Thanks, I finally get a comparison I can trust. lol. I'll be getting the nikon 200-500 as soon as I convince my wife I can't live without one.

Mike, if I remember right... Your shooting the D7100 or D7200. The 200-500 will work good on that body. I have that D7100 body also. The effective zoom will be 300-750mm.

I used the D7100 till last Dec when I had it on a tripod with a 70-200 and it fell on the garage floor. Thankfully the body hit the floor and not the lens. The body had a nice 1 inch crack so I ordered the D7200. Now i'm not so lazy and take the camera off the tripod as soon as i'm finished shooting.

Sorry for the delay guys. I'll get a poll going sometime today if I can. If anyone else would like to get that goin, feel free. This is probably gonna be the last contest I'll host. I've had some huge life changes (good ones for the most part) and it's pretty much cut my BBC time out. If anyone is interested in possibly taking over, let me know and I'll see if I can add you on as a mod. Great shots this month btw!

Hey guys. I haven't been able to get to my PC for a few weeks and likely be another few weeks. I can't get the photos to upload from my phone so I gave up out of frustration on the poll thread. Comment with which pic you like best. I'm gonna go with tshooter! I love the action shot that's tack sharp and great exposure.
