    Question Padding

Just curious I just got my padding for the deck and one side is the rubber foam and the other side is covered with a really thin layer of a white fabric /weave material! Which side goes on deck and which on carpet?

Where did you get it? I only use Pro-Tech, never seen anything with a white fabric, sure hope you didn't pay much for it.

I'm with Scott S. I use the padding from ranger and it's 50 bucks plus shipping. I've also never seen any white cloth ether. But my guess would be white side up.

After you put the padding on let it set for a few hrs before you put carpet over it. This will let air get to the glue and start the drying process.

You bought the correct padding. Bassboatseats.com sells the same material. I have had it on my boat for over a year and love it. Put the fabric material facing down. Good luck!

What is the material for on that padding?...holding the product together or for adhesion?
Pro Tech Padding is same both sides and performs flawlessly under quality carpet with Weld wood contact cement.

Not the wrong stuff. That's the bassboat carpet brand padding. High quality. Might help to do more research.

    Put the fiber backing down.

Thanks put1in! See how easy that was just to simply answer the question instead of trying to put other people down Scott s. I hoping the fish don't mind to much that I didn't buy my pad at pro-tech!

Used same material here, put on a few weeks ago - looking forward to trying it out.

You are correct. The tech at Bassboatseats.com said exactly that. The fiber is for better adhesion and makesb the product stronger when glued down. It worked great for me.

I got all the carpet (20oz), padding and glue from bassboatseats.com. I did use some contact cement on the sides of the lids because I didn't have enough clamps to do all the lids at the same time.

I've been using the weldwood contact cement so far for both pad to boat and carpet to pad ! The only draw back is like what the others have posted when you put it down there is no making any adjustments! I tried to find a marine glue like roberts or henry but here in California they only sell crap and the weldwood can only be bought in pints because of the laws

    Little thread revival here.

The stuff sold by BassBoatSeats.com is actually really good stuff. The backing is supposed to enhance durability as mentioned before, but is also intended to aid in a easier removal. It's made by a company called Healthier Choice, it's a commercial grade padding, has a life time warranty, has a breathable moisture barrier similar to Gore-Tex that prevents liquid from penetrating the padding but does allow moisture to pass through. I have this stuff coming to do my forward and aft decks, I'll be sure to snap some pics of it and report back on what it's like.

    http://www.healthierchoice.com/foundation.html

The spec sheets are useful for more detailed info. I think the stuff BassBoatSeats.com has is either the SE of HT version (see Spec Sheets in the left hand column) since those are both 1/4" thick, the contact person at BassBoatSeats.com couldn't tell me which specifically though. Either way, they both seem like a quality product. BassBoatSeats.com told me Henry 263 would be fine for pad to deck and carpet to bad, I don't have enough so I'll have to do a combo or contact cement and 263.
