    Trailer Tires size

I am trying to decide on which trailer tire to go with and was looking at the Carlisle Radial Trail HD Trailer Radial Tire - 215/75R14 102M (C Rated) to replace my 9 year old good year marathons.

Was wonder if the 205/75R14 would fit on my rims since they are a D rated tire. They list the approved rim size for the 205 as 5.5 where my existing tires are 215 and are listed approved rim size 6.

The D rated tire would fit if the width millimeters are smaller.

There are very few vehicles now made with 14' tires, and they're getting pretty rare. But the Carlisle tires are just another Chinese tire--as are the new Goodyear Marathons.

A better pick for new tires is the Maxxis M8008.

I have look at the Maxxis M8008 also, seems to have good reviews on them. Was looking for a D rating tire that would fit my wheels but may just stay with the C ratings.

I seen some bad reviews on those lately. Plus my tire place cannot find a supplier for them.

I have been looking at them also. Wasn't sure how good they were. Do you have them on your trailer.

Yup, replaced the marathons. I finally gave up on finding OWL tires. They are slightly narrower and taller than the GY. After one year, I'm glad of the choice. I keep them maxxed at 60lbs ish. Very high speed rating as well. Just the name ( Taskmaster!, really?) and the made in China are the negatives. Good luck.

Thanks for the review, I like the higher speed rating and have good reviews on e-trailer. I am still on my original marathons on my 08 Triton TR186. They have been great, but not sure about all the tire made in china tires. What speed are getting with the 175 Optimax.

I have one Khumo 857 left ( out of 4) it still has 12/32 tread (12/32 is what they have new) it is the only one out of the four I bought new that didn't have the belts separate. Khumo gave me full replacement cost ( minus shipping, mounting and tax on each tire). Unfortunately I replaced the first two with Khumo's the other two with a different brand.

I wish I would have googled the 857 before I bought four of them. There are some real horror stories about them.

Thanks for all the responses. Below are the tires that I am trying to decide between now. Prefer a D rated tire and looks like the Taskmaster is the only one in my existing tire size that will fit.

Taskmaster Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - (D Rated) etrailer (This is the tire the I like the best for Spec & reviews)

Kenda Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - (D Rated) etrailer

    Maxxis M8008 215/75R14 102M (C Rated)

Carlisle Radial Trail HD Trailer Radial Tire205/75R14 (D Rated) Not sure if they will fit my existing rims.

I was told by a tire store that the new Carlislie radial HD tire is a USA made tire. I too am in the same situation, my boat trailer has st215/75r14 tires and its a no brainer to install the st205/75R14 as they are an 8 ply tire.

I had my tire store look for tires that were not made in china and he could not find except maxxis tires. He originally told me that the Carlisle were US made until he checked with his distributor. They were made in china.

Same here, would like the security of having the D-rated, 8 ply tire over the C-rated 6 ply but I am not positive they will fit my rim..?

Edit: My rim width is 5.5"

Goodyear just announced the release of the US made Endurance Trailer tire.

They have a 215/75R14 in a D-Rated tire. Tire rack list these tires for $108.00 each.

Man if those tires are 08, according to any of the ST tire manufactures you are way over due to change them out. Tire manufactures only 6 years for car tires and 3 to 4 for trailer tires.

Yes the tires are 08 marathons. They are starting to wear on the edges and certain spots I think mainly because off not being balanced. Will be replacing this year, just not sure with what.

In messing with a tire pressure monitoring system I found out that Goodyear has come out with their Endurance ST trailer tire. American made according to the Goodyear web site. They have a D rated tire in the 14 inch. Sell for $108 each. My Carlisle"s are going to be 4 years old at the end of this year and the Goodyears are what Im going to replace them with.
