Should I be running a fuel additive with this motor. Also used to run blue stabil but weaned off of it.

Another is that I relay don't run the motor all out balls to the wall. I have a 25 pitch 4 blade prop it gets me up on plane quick with only turning 4900 rpm. I'm at the motor now
what's the pan.
Is that prop ok for the boat running low Rpms like that.
Knowing now that it is carburetted I would ask when were the carburetors last cleaned? Float inlet valves can stick open or closed. Are the carburetors adjusted properly? Float heights and idle mixture screws that is. Does the choke function work properly? Does the choke plate return to the open position when the key switch press-to-choke function is released? Have the fuel pumps been verified to work properly? That is, they don't leak.
Is the motor new to you or have you had it a while? If you have had it a while is the problem new or has it been this way for a while.
Sounds to me like you are over propped which can be a bigger problem with four strokes but can be a problem with two strokes. Should not be part of the "flooding" issue but you might want to try a lesser pitched propeller.
What would over proped do
I'm curious what would be the reason
I read Yamaha is 4500 to 5500 I'm right in the middle.
Here is what Yamaha also says:
"NOTE: It is recommended for optimum performance and engine life to adjust the WOT engine speed to the top end of the recommended range."
What they fail to say in the verbiage above, but say in other places, is that this should be with the boat loaded and the engine trimmed up just to the point of optimal efficiency. No higher than that.
Ok good to know would this cause build up on my plugs cause once a year they get like this. The carbs have never been touched.
I have same motor...i also run the ringfree in the fuel. The motor sucks to start cold. I have to manually pull the choke out when i start it cold, Even though the electric choke works. I reall think you are over propped. Which i think is adding to your issue as the plugs get fouled easier. I had an issue once where the motor would miss bad and it was just a plug, had a piece of carbon wedged in the gap of the plug.
Make sure your choke is working by pushing in the key and have someone watch the solenoid.
Check your plugs regularly low rpms foul plugs...at least on my motor.
I am running a 23 tempest prop. And my rpm's are at 5550 WOT.

Thanks a bunch wilt I m going to Handel the prop what about fuel octane to run slash additive. And what's your number with the 23 tempest. And would love to hear about the Correct fuel to run in my motor
Per your owner's manual, gasoline with 86 or higher octane. See page 10.

Here is a pic from my manual...
I use 89 the mid grade fuel here to protect against detonation, lower octane fuel burns faster. But thats my choice. My number?? I am at 59-60 mph at 5550 rpm's with the 23 pitch wheel. Thats just me light load.
