    HYD Steering

Getting ready to rig a 225 H.O. to my Stratos and am looking at Sea Star Hyd steering.

Are you guys using the Sea Star or Sea Star Pro??

    Thx

Look at horsepower call outs. I think you need the Pro.

The tournament series with the 6845 cylinder which is the best Sea Star makes and that's what I'd get. May cost a little more but won't wear out as fast. Uflex makes steering kits too and that's what Don Weed uses now.

Do they turn that much harder than a Sea Star? I talked to a tech and he said they are another 500PSI to overcome. Do you notice the difference?

The pro series has some plastic parts on it the wear out and you have to have it rebuilt. The tournament cylinder has Stainless Steel in place of the plastic which doesn't wear out. Both use the 1500 lb helm. You don't want the 1000 lb helm with the 225.

Look at the uflex silversteer got it last year. An the way it connects to the outboard just seem a lot more sturdy than the sea star
