    Skeeter Performance Bulletins

Here's a Link to the Current Performance Bulletins from Skeeter and Yamaha:

    http://www.skeeterboats.com/performance_bulletins/

Since several are asking what to expect from each model this is probably the most reliable source typical speed from each model.

That's a great idea - this topic comes up often here.

That is some good info but I wish they would compare some SKEETERS to some other brands of boats that would be nice to know.

Yamaha has done some performance bulletins of other boat manufactures on their website:

They should update those, the new 20i's are a little bit faster.

It's a bad link to the 20i with 250 on it. Once you open it, it shows the VZ225 on the right side, not the 250. Both 20i links go to the same bulletin, which shows the same speed as a ZX225 with 225, 71 mph.

    Performance Bulletin... ZX200 with HDPI

Also would be of value to show improvement over V-max...maybe in %... also vs the 4 strokes...but companies seem unwilling to do lots of internal comparisons... buyers love comparisons... it does show that 2,500-3,500rpms saves you the most fuel... so if time is not crucial.. stay in that zone when you can.

No bulletin here but after running the new 08 20 i, could not believe the difference
in ride/stability compared to 07 zx225. WOW! They both might be 20'2" but the
    ride is way different!

Can't comment on MPH yet, break-in period still on..but buddy says his 08 is faster too.

    Re: Skeeter Performance Bulletins (PeanutMan)

I was very surprised to see the maximum speed on both the ZX180 and 190. They are slower than waht I would have thought considering the changes that have been made since 1996. With a 23P Laser 2 I was running 61.8 (GPS) and have since changed to a 24P Tempest ll but have yet to try it.

    Re: Skeeter Performance Bulletins (HammysSkeeter)

If you notice they test them and don't have them set up to max performance. The ZX250 runs up to 5500rpms and gets 72.9.... If you spend a little time working the setup you will see better numbers with increased rpms. Its still a good out of the box idea on what these boats will run. I find the infromation with MPG and speed a more interesting indicator. Really looks like 3000-3500 rpms is max fuel....
I also found it interesting that the 4 stroke on the SL190 had the same top speed as the 2 storke yet got 6.46 vs 3.94 mpg...

    Re: Skeeter Performance Bulletins (plbass)

I am truly not trying to stir the pot here....but I was blown away by the extremely poor MPG and top speeds of these rigs according to these bulletins. To avoid a fight I will not list brands but my 20' bass boat with 300hp motor gets over 7mpg at cruising speeds and will run 93-95 GPS fully tournament loaded. The Skeeter/Yamaha package gets HALF the mpg and is a toad on the top end.

    Re: Skeeter Performance Bulletins (hornytoad)

Hull weights of 1,000 pounds or so are not nearly as safe as real bass boats or all would be much lighter...that is my guess about the above hi mpg specs... somebody post a boat within 100 pounds of a ZX or i Series...then let's go with that reality.

I have a 22ft storm with a 250 vmax non hpdi full tournament load I run 72mph with an average load and 2 people I run 74mph with a 26p trophy with a good hole shot and I get around 3/3.5 mpg at wot that is a 2003 boat and motor that is pretty close to the same weight as a skeeter and with a 28p trophy worked by mark b&b polished thined leading edge and a light load no TM no gear 1 person 1/16 tank of gas perfect conditions 77mph so there is a pretty good comparison

Re: Skeeter Performance Bulletins (storm 22)

I bought zx250 for the comination of (layout, ride, deck, design, room). The only way this boat will run over 70 is on a trailer.
I've driven, worked on, fished out of, repaired more brands of boats than I can think of.
    Faster ones. (most of em)
Better handling ones. (champion hands down)
More storage, although actually not useable, but, more area (ranger/nitro)
Better built (all of them in certain areas, worse built in other areas).
And I grew up with Rangers, in Ranger country, and I'd probably still be die hard Ranger had I never fished out of other boats.
But now, at the end of the day, all things considered.....
    My own boats are Skeeters.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
