    RT188 bank charger question

How are you guys mounting bank chargers in the battery compartment? It is TIGHT in there! I got a 3 bank and I doubt it will fit.

My three bank is on the back wall of the transom in between the knee braces.

Mine is mounted to the transom, it looks like there is a plate it's mounted to. I have a 3 bank dual pro, and I wouldn't say its lacking space back there either, compared to my old boat, its huge. I will be replacing it with a minn kota 345 pc charger soon too.

I would appreciate any pics I can get, I guess I have to build a brace to drill into? Or cross members to go across the braces?

Ranger mounts a sheet of aluminum plate across the transom braces and mount the charger to the plate.

It was factory mounted by Ranger but yes it is mounted with sheet metal screws, not all that big.

Here is a picture of a 2 bank charger in a RT 178. You can see there is room for a bigger charger and its on my list.

OK, I see what you mean now. Ranger mounted a piece of aluminum in order to mount the charger. I need to get a piece of aluminum made. Not the most ideal situation, but I will figure it out.

You can buy small pieces of aluminum at Menards or alot of hardware stores. Use self tapping screws and your good to go.

So I bought a NOCO Genius 3 bank and it's to tall/square to fit. I think I need to look at one that is longer and less square.

I think it has been done but after you pic up a dual pro its HEAVY. IMO its alot of weight hanging down and depending on the charger you may not have enough clearance anyway.

Yea, I think I'm gonna have to get an aluminum plate mounted and then mount the charger like others have done.
