    Help, not my unit

Hopped in a friends boat with a Helix 9 and took a couple of pics of his display when we went over a brushpile I made in 15'.

What do you guys make of this?

It's about 12 Christmas trees standing up. Anyone know what the red in that pic is?

I know right! LOL. Just thought it was a cool pic. Been looking at a new unit and been wondering what the Humminbird had to offer. Not sure of the guys settings, but at least it picked up the massive brushpile I've been working on for a few months.

I don't have a SI unit on my boat, but if I see my buddy near my dock I'll get him to come over and take me out there again. Any idea how far away would be the best image? Again most of those trees are in 15.2' and bunched fairly close.

30-50ft should give plenty of detail and he has option of showing a single side which shows even more detail without zooming. Depending on how they are grouped, you can approach from different sides for more detail.

Looks like a brush pile! Lol. Try a down,2d split screen and you will get a good idea what the sonar is showing

On the right side of the display is the color band showing the strengths of the recorded echos. The red to dark reds are the strongest returns (harder/more solid) parts of the brush pile.

Some use the color band on purpose to learn how to interpret the echo strengths.

    A "Little" LOL!!!!

It doesn't even look like it's on 200KHz it's cranked right up there......

If it's on 83KHz or 200/83 run it again, with the sens. down some and 200KHz.
