96 Merc Black maxx xri 150 water pump silicon between exhaust port and water pump

I replaced my water pump with a kit from European Marine last weekend. During the process I forgot to put a bead of silicon between exhaust port and water pump. Should I break it back down and add that bead of silicon or will i be ok without it?

    Thanks

Purpose is to help prevent hot exhaust gases from being pushed onto the water pump/housing. Really should be there- but will probably be ok if you're keeping up with your Water Pump replacements (Annually).
