Look at the distance from the rub rail to the top of the gunwale, you can see the difference there as well as the slope off the back to the transom. Looking at this shot, appears it may be just from the cockpit back.

I got nothin
Thanks, Jim!
Here’s the only pic I have of mine, 2005 model and I keep forgetting to get the hull id number for Lea to tell me wether it’s an early 05 or late 05. Your top cap does seem like it gets bigger towards the back.
Grrr double post.
Also a nice looking boat. During the Charger /Champion tournament there were some beautiful Champs there.
I got nothin
Get your wallets out it’s almost ready !My inside source says they have 10 or so already spoken for it should be a big hit.
I heard the same thing.
Spoken for with having heard the price or spoken for because of speculation. Price I heard was ridiculous, might as well buy the 210.

It’s a foot shorter is it going to be 20,000 less than a 210 ?No way can’t wont be .Will the 198 fit in a garage that the 210 will not ..yes so that’s it selling point .If you have a big garage than yes the 210 would be perfect in that aspect. Now if you order a 198 with a 150 than you might get down 10 grand below most 20 ft boats with a 250.
The front lids have been ordered and it has a plan to be at the classic according to charger. The top cap is a early 05 design with 210 interior.Consoles are 210 design and the rear deck lids are same as 210.The front lids are same layout just shorter because the boat is shorter. Its coming and yes they have orders along with 210 orders .
If it’s only $1k less than the 210 because of the missing 25hp, then I don’t think they will be selling that well. Hopefully we can see some performance numbers soon because it sounds like the 198 had some quite different speed numbers with the later hulls.
Maybe once they have been out a few years the price will get better.
price difference on a 150 vs 225 merc Pro xs is less than $4k. The 225 vs 250 is $900.00
It’s crazy how the price is only 1000 from 225 to 250 this is why a 19 ft boat cost the same as a 20 ft even with a 250. Just no way to cut cost between the 2.Charger found this out in 06 with the 396 it was same price to build as a 496 with a 225 or 250 so sales sucked on the 396 back than.
Just compare the 198 with a 225 pricing to the rest of the pack and I bet it’s competitive.
When I won my 396, to value it to split with my partner, dealer had to use a 496 and subtract for a shorter boat. Weren't enough 396 sales, zero by him, to do it any other way. It's a shame too because the 396 is a highly under rated boat.
I got nothin
From the number I was told, it is not competitive. But we all have seen some of the dealership leftover 210’s marked fairly reasonable on here. So hopefully the real world price will be more in line. Might also be some benefit to other boats that get better pricing than what Charger can, for example:Skeeter is owned by Yamaha.
Kyle said the 198 would be out next month so we should be able to see the real number. Maybe the price I was told was a false number.
Something else brought up on Facebook, have you guys noticed that Charger hasn’t built any white hulled boats?
Mine will be pearl white, does that count? Had it painted to match my truck.
I got nothin
