The whole market is turning around. Don't ask me how at the prices they are getting!
In all honesty they aren't selling many in the $150,000 range. There are quite a few PlayCrafts in our area. The most expensive I've seen sold in our area was for $130,000. Pretty sure it had dual inboards. They do make nice Pontoons and are fast. I'd say up until a few years ago there were far more PlayCraft tritoons than any other brand in our area (Mississippi River Pool 10)
I don't think the whole market is up but we will see once the report on registered bass boat sales comes out next year. 210 is going pretty good in sales and I believe the 198 will do better than the 210 next year imo.
I would think the 198 will do even better than the 210 also. waiting anxiously on it

There's still 25 210 s on the build board at the plant with more orders every day coming in.They can only build so many a day with the molds they have. Now the playcraft toon side had 3 10x30s with dual 400s on 2 of them and one with 2 Honda 250s.There were 15-20 other ones at various stages and the Hampton side had 20 plus at various stages they are building them that's for sure. For a family owned company they are busy. The consoles and other fiberglass parts are made in the charger plant so there's a lot going on just not bassboats. They also just had the shootout at loz and ran 3 toons at 77-71-82 I believe not to bad for production big heavy rigs.Things have gotten back closer to their avg builds per year and people at loz area are spending big money which is a great thing.

So they don't really have any desire to put out any 198's since they are selling plenty of the more expensive 210's.
Guess they chose wisely making a champ copy.
The hull plug was just about done and the cap will follow.Hopefully early next year we will see it if not before.
So......two more weeks
At some point it will be "in two more weeks"... Just a matter of time... Dan
What model year of the Champion 198 did they splash the hull/topcap from?
I sure hope it's before the 200 top cap. That cap looks hideous compared to my '05 198. I like the classic champ look.

What's the difference between the 198 and 200 other than console?
The 2004 198 hull (first Genmar Champion hull) was a derivation of the 196 hull (a Mountain Home Champion) with little to no deviation from the Mountain Home Champion look and feel. (Best 198 version in my opinion) 2005+, there were several (Stratos like) changes to storage and stringers. The consoles changed as well. I believe the hull did not change.
If you're referring to the 2007+ 200 Elite hull, it was a horrific abomination created by people at Stratos/Genmar who didn't know shiznit about Champion hulls. It was a terrible hull design. Please, someone, make sure those molds are crushed. They thought they could build a better Champion hull to appeal to the masses and increase sales and it was a flop, a failure, and an embarrassment to the Champion lineage.
Hope that helps clear things up.
