Where to mount for shoot through transducer

I have a 14 vlo 186 trying to find out where to set my transducer for shooting through hull. Is there a particular spot?

it has to be directly above the pad. anywhere that ends up not being in the water will cause it not to work. Best advice, place it where you think it will work, fill the bilge with some water (enough to fill gap between puck and boat) and take her out. Don't epoxy it down till you know its 100%.

I put one in my 15 186. I had to remove the plate the charger was mounted on.

Mounted it dead center about 6 or 8 inches in front of the drain hole. Getting good readings with it!

Okay cool. I figured on the pad just wanted to make sure there wasn't a certain area

I would place it back near the pad and seat a brick or sand bag on it to hold in place and add water to cover it up . Then go on the lake and see what it will do at that spot , that's way you can move around to find the right spot then ...expoy it in place later .
