SI on DI only unit?

Just installed a new Helix 7 DI GPS G2N up front. I have it networked to my 1198C SI at the console. When I set up the network, it allowed me to choose the 1198 transducer for SI. In simulator mode, I was surprised to find I had access to SI screens on a DI only unit, but assumed that they would go away in normal operation. But when I tested it on the water Saturday I had full SI functionality on the Helix. Is this out of the ordinary?

No, they have had the ability for several years now

No, that is not unusual. It's been a cross-technology function since the first year of the XX9 models.

Thanks for the response guys. I assumed that a DI unit would only have DI screens available. Happy to get a feature that I did not know about.

A 2D unit will do the same thing.
