    Ranger 177 TR

Anyone have any experience with one of these boats ? I'm looking at one and wanted to know if someone may have owned one and could tell me how they liked it. It's a 40th anniversary with a 115 Yamaha four stroke. Thanks for any help

Yep. My father in law has exactly that boat and motor. He has Minn Kota 24 volt trolling motor and boat handles fine. He ordered it new. It fishes big for small boat for sure
Especially with the beam. The square nose carries it. Gets through narrow trees and stuff good.

Yes. You will have no issues with stability. GPS it is a 44 mph boat 2 people full of gear. Hole shot isnt instant but it is definitely ok. Storage is good especially for its size and when trolling motor down it tracks very well.

I bought one new in 2008, sold it in 2015, was a great boat, ran about 43/44 solo, lots of storage, stable fishing platform and took chop very well, never felt unsafe in it.

    Brian,

Do you recall what your prop to pad height was on yours?

My buddy owned that boat and it fished big and ran fast enough for me. Good luck

I had a yamaha v4 115, the prop was a yamaha k21 4 blade ss prop. It was rigged at the factory, I never paid attention to how high / low they rigged it, the setup jumped right up on plane and WOT was 43 /44 mph

thanks for the info, that is the exact speed I have with a evinrude/viper at factory setting, but my hole shot seems long and lacking power on the ramp.

My father in law has the 4 stroke and so did Brian. If it is loaded down full wells and 2 people it is ok but little slow. Once it gets up it runs great.

Probably. Not sure. Don't get me wrong it isn't bad hole shot but isn't great when loaded it 2 people. For us its not an issue because we don't fish any tournaments and never run live wells and don't run enough to ever need to run full fuel. Fuel economy is great in it. With us both in boat 460 pounds and little over half tank of fuel t is good.

Some where I read where the hull was spin off from a existing hull, unfortunately I am unable to find that now, but if that was true and the model known it might give some insight on a starting point for better prop and height setup.
