Adding a steering console to a Jon boat

Anyone add a steering console to a Jon boat, using one of the pre- made units from th marine, lowes, alumacraft, etc. I have a 18 ft pro weld with the rear bench seat. I am thinking about adding a console but I may need to add seating platforms instead of leaving the seats on the rear bench. Just wondering about the quality of the consoles, and how you set them up. Thanks

A buddy of mine did it several years ago by putting one from another boat in his jon boat.
It looked like crap but it did the job.
