    Starting battery dies...sometimes.

Have a 250HPDI, running 2 huminbirds 997 and a 999. Sometimes starting battery dies. Current battery is a Interstate 24M XHD 800 CCA, 1000 MCA. Bought in Nov 2014. Checked battery after fishing yesterday it read 12.56 volts (battery didn't die, it died the day before while fishing) Checked it while motor was running, it read 13.85 volts. Took battery to Autozone and they said it was good. Do need a Bigger battery? Thanks in advance.

Step up to a group 27. Based on a brief interwebs search your CCA and MCA numbers are OK but the addition of your electronics is probably the tipping point on a Group 24.

The CCA and MCA ratings are ok for the 24M-HXD, but the RC is only rated to 135. The 250 HPDIs require a minimum of 182 RC. The 24 has the grunt to start a 250 when fresh ... but doesn't have sufficient reserve capacity to provide that power after running electronics for awhile. Like Buccaneer says .. the Interstate 27M-XHD has 800 CCA, 1000 MCA and 180 RC. The 27 will be questionable too if running electronics, live-wells etc. all day in a tournament. Then I would jump to a 31. I run a 27M-XHD with my 250 HPDI for pleasure fishing .... no problems.

i have that exact same group 24 interstate xhd and that thing constantly left me stranded if i fish more than 5 hours straight with one fish finder on and one live well running on timer. I got tired of getting stranded or bringing extra battery so i went and bought a X2 power 31M battery and now i could fish all day with both my hds 12 and livewells running and still have plenty of power to start my motor.
