thanks. i guess i need to try one in person. i have garmin panoptix on the front and being able to scan side to side slowly is very important
You know I have only used mine in the garage "Damn Winter" but on mine and I am comparing to a MG Tour I am not feeling a big difference in the pedal and let me clarify "I don't feel like the head is rotating a lot faster than the foot pressure I am used to on the MG." That being said if try to really put the pressure to it quickly yes it will go faster.

Ive been using mine for 5 or 6 trips now. I FREAKIN love it.. I am amazed everytime I hit the spot lock and have to retie or change baits and look up and I'm still in the same position within a few feet. Home run by MK

Thanks for the review. I cannot afford powerpoles (2) for around $3500.00 but I might be able to afford $2200.00 for the ultrex. I have been reading all the reviews I can find.

Very good information!!! Now gotta get my ducks in a row!!! I've been waiting for this type of trolling motor for a long time.
Just jacked the old troller of the bow, filled in the holes and set my new ulterra on the bow to get an idea where to mount it...will mount tomorrow and get all electrical hooked up....hopefully this weekend.....70 degrees btw....I'll be able to calibrate her and NEVER lift a troller again!
For anyone who has fished the Ulterra and the new Ultrex: is the Ultrex spot lock better and hold you in a closer diameter? I have the Ulterra and am somewhat disapointed in the spotlock on it and the steering mechanism is noisy. But I do really like the stow-deploy feature on the Ulterra.
Can't speak to the Ulterra but switched from a 1.5 year old Terrova and spot lock is much much better even without the bluetooth assist hooked up.
I will admit the motor rotation does have an electric motor whine to it but to be honest, I could care less. The spot Lock is spot on!

I plan on getting one sometime in the future if the spot lock works as good as every one says. I do a lot of ledge fishing in the middle of Kentucky lake and it can be very difficult with wind to stay on the spot. Hope to see some reviews from guys using it in heavy wind.

3 feet is not as good as the xi5 motorguide. The ultrex was supposed to be 1-2 ft
3' sounds pretty good to me compared to what I can while fishing.
Just saying the heading sensor was supposed to improve things. I could have sworn they were claiming the ultrex was better than the motor guide
I will say my Ulterra is more like 5-15 ft. radius. 3 ft would make me very happy!
