Hot Foot install-- top-load vs. rear-load

I'm looking to install a hot foot in a Nitro Z18, and would prefer to route the cable for top-load, if possible. I have seen several like that and they look a lot cleaner, but all of the boats I've owned have had the traditional style rear-load configuration. Other than the minimum radius of the cable, what other requirements are there that differ from a rear-load install? Any reason why more boat manufacturers don't use them more? Difficulty of install? Cable service life?
    Any advice will be appreciated!

Alot of it depends on cable routing. If you can route it so it comes from above the hot foot the top load if not bottom load. Don't really want to put a sharp bend in it.

mine is a top load due to where the hole for the wires etc. came out.
