    Smartcraft vs NMEA 2000

Hey guys, I dont have a merc monitor on my 08' 225 opti and was looking to either install the smart craft gauge or run the NMEA 2000 from my Onix to the engine. My apologies if this subject has been covered but I would appreciate some opinions on this topic. Id prefer not to spend a ton of $$ on the smartcraft if i can get similar info from the NMEA to my Onix for less money. Thanks guys

This thread may answer your question. It may not be apparent in this thread, but you will need a NMEA 2000 network. If you do not have installed, you will need to purchase a NMEA 2000 starter kit.
