Garmin transducer on z lock jackplate

Anyone running a Garmin unit on their Phoenix with the transducer mounts to the jackplate? I'm wondering if I will need the transducer shield and saver or just use the mounting bracket that Garmin sells for 20 bucks?

I used the Garmin bracket, but I'll eventually change it out for the T S&S.

The TSS looks pretty solid on the website.

Yes it does. I had one on my 618 w/ HB units. Well built and the folks there were extremely helpful.

Have you noticed a difference in image clarity between the side mount and the hole shot plate wedge mount?

not really. having the hold shot plate eliminates the echos you sometimes get from the side installation. I do prefer the center installation though for some reason. Just seems safer being out of the way
