New 250 Pro XS on 21 XRD

Well, I finally got around to buying a new Pro XS to replace my 2002 250 VMAX. Motor is being installed now. Selling the VMAX soon, hopefully. I have a 26p Trophy right now that I'm getting 79-81mph depending on the conditions with the yammy. I have access to a 27p fury as well. Has anyone tried that comparison on a 21XRD with 250 Pro XS? TM Gear case. I scanned thru the setup thread, but there are so many its hard to find exactly what was looking for. My XRD is an 08. Ill post up my results between the two later on when I have an opportunity to run them both. Probably be a few weeks as I wont get it back until next week at the earliest. Weather is turning crappy in NC now too.

I would think a 26 Fury would work better on that rig. The 27 is awful stiff. The pitch on a Fury is a lot stiffer than the pitch on a trophy.

I know way back when, I tried a 27 Tempest. Worst prop I ever ran at the time. I know the 26 trophy plus is a good overall choice on a 21 but am curious about the Fury. I can prob get a 26 to try as well.

I'm assuming it is a gen 2 TM since it is new. 1.75 gears?

It is a new engine, but its a 2015. I need to check what the ratio is.

Leave the fury in the box. Worst prop I have ever ran on a bullet. Need a large diameter prop like a bravo or hydromotive with the gen 2 gearcase.

If you have the gen2 (wingmaster) gear case, a 28 Bravo (with flare on barrel) is the best I have found. Hole shot is the problem with most props....they spin terrible with a load. Give your trophy a try for sure, but I bet you won't like the hole shot.

I have a 27 Trophy that I ran on my 21XD 250 ProXS/Gen2. It cavitated real bad on holeshot and turned 6170 rpm @ 84.3 2" below the pad. I don't think the 26 Trophy will be enough prop if you have 1:75 gears. Like Leebob said, if you have a Gen2 lower unit the 28 Bravo1 with full flare will work good. If you have a regular Torquemaster a 28 Bravo1 xs will run good

If you can get the trophy going it will probably run decent numbers but it won't stay together very long. The fury will not run on the Bullet like mentioned. The TM2 likes to spin its ass off and its hard to get a happy medium between holeshot and top end. An original 28 Bravo 1 (not XS or FS) with the full flare and massaged blades will run around 82 loaded to fish.

My 21XRD 250 Pro xs ran the best with a 28 TXP.
I ran a 27 Trophy that did fine, 26-27-29 TXP
All would run on the boat but the 28 did better overall. It pushed it to 85
    and handled very good.

You had a Gen 1 TM too, much different than the WM.

Thanks for the many replies!! That confirms my thoughts on the Fury. I have reading about the Bravo prop as well. Looks like that will be the way to go on this motor. I have ran the TP 26 on the vmax since the boat was new in 2008. But that motor has to sit lower than the TM due to the pickups, as most of you know already. I will see what I can line up for some testing.
