Question *Update - I bought it! Info on 2007 Champion 200

Hey everyone I am new to this site but have been reading through some of the post the last couple of days and I think this is the place that could help me.

I am looking to purchase my first bass boat and am currently looking at a 2007 Champion 200 with a Yamaha VMAX 225 and I would like ANY information I can find out about this boat/motor that could help me make my final decision.

I also have a few specific questions.
Any wood used it the construction of this boat? Would top speed should I expect? Concerns with buying a boat brand that is no longer made? Is it difficult to find parts? Why does the boat I am looking at not have dash gauges? Were the gauges an upgrade in 2007? It has tach and speedometer but does not have the small gauges (trim, volts, fuel, psi). How can I determine if the motor recall has been performed? I was researching the motor and found a "service bulletin" was put out on the Yamaha VMAX motors, that covered 2007, due to oiling issues. Dealers would replace the oil pumps to fix the issue.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome,
    No wood in this boat,
Guessing speed could be about 70 give or take 2,
Most parts and accessories come from venders, not Champ,
Company out of biz not a concern, no warranty anyway,
Contact your local authorized Yam dealer to have history looked into,
Maybe could get matching gauges from C&O Marine,
Stick around, many helpful well informed folks on this forum.

The tach and speedo are most likely some type of Yamaha smart/multifunction gauge.

You will like that boat , have three of them in our club including mine. Around 65 mph top end and stable especially in rough water.

Welcome! That boat has special gauge info in the touch pad. The seller, as well as some of our owners, should be able to show you exactly how it functions. The gauge info is tach, speedo, fuel, volts, water pressure and trim. The brand name of this system is Actia. I believe the gauges are called BIOS.

As stated above, no worries regarding parts, etc. One of BBC 's great sponsors is C&O Marine. They have many Champion parts in stock. They sold Champions for many years and are very knowledgeable about our boats.

Sounds like it would be a good boat for me and most of my concerns won't be an issue. I will have to check with a yamaha dealer about the motor.

I'm going to look at the boat in person and take it for a ride in a couple weeks.

If all goes well I will be a Champion owner.

Thanks again for all the information!

    Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you all an update. I purchased the Champion 200 Elite I was looking at this past week. I have had the boat out a few times and love it so far.

Everyone that responded to my original post really helped me make my decision. I am sure I will have many more questions in the future.

    Thanks again!

Congratulations! That is a real beauty!!!!

Several models in the years around 2007 have the soft touch panel and should be able to guide you if you describe your issues.

    Thanks Lea!

I posted a new thread but it appears to be working again after fooling with it. Hopefully it keeps working.

I keep coming back to this thread to see if you've posted more pics. Looking forward to seeing the color of that rig in daylight.
