    Talon installation question

Friend of mine is wanting my help with installing a single Talon on his 2008 20X2, he would prefer to have it mounted directly to either the transom or the sponson area (?) instead of using the one of the adapter brackets to the jackplate.

Has anybody mounted there Talon directly to the transom area? if so any drawbacks or problem? Thanks

Best to mount it off of jackplate. I don't know of any personally but heard it can damage the glass if mounted directly to the boat.

I have a 2008 Tr21X and I have Talons on mine. I mounted them to the jack plate. It was really easy to do. Not sure why you would want to drill holes in the transom. Personally, I think your just asking for trouble doing that.

You definitely want to use the jackplate or a sandwich bracket. The ONLY time you would mount to transom would be a permanent mount on an aluminum boat!!!!!!
