    4 beep help?

    Hi group,

I have a 2001 Mercury 2 stroke 225 hp motor that started beeping on me again. Historically it has had a 3 beep problem, always oil related but now i get a sequence of 4 beeps. Any idea what this could be?

    Cheers,
    Brandon

Please see the Announcements at the top of the forum, and be sure to provide the REQUIRED info when posting. Thanks!

Once that's available, pointers appropriate to a specific engine's electronics can be provided.

In general, a 4-beep warning is a "non-critical" warning (there's a problem that needs to be addressed as soon as you can safely return to port).

I recently had '6-beeps' when turning the key to 'on' but no alarms or beeps when running. Took boat to dealer, hooked to diagnostic laptop and found that 6-beeps on my particular 2015 Pro XS 200 ( ser 2B115304 ) is a MAP sensor ( Manifold Air Pressure ) that wasn't happy. I had a few intermittent issues when fishing at 22 degrees ( Yes, I know that's cold even here in Alabama )...but no repeat issues even without any parts changes.

    There are TWO warnings (ONLY):

SOLID TONE: Critical Fault (engine needs to shut down as soon as safely possible)

Four Beeps, Pause, Four Beeps...: Non-critical Fault (return engine to port and have engine serviced by dealer).

On newer engines- the horn sequence will NOT continue (it ceases after approximately 6 seconds).

Earlier model engines used the same horn sequences... but they may have continued to sound.

So... we can't say "x number of beeps means this is wrong"....

Follow this advice: WARNING HORN "BEEPED"
