Just a heads up, the lake is closed to all fishing from a boat until sometime next year. You can find a telephone number via google for more info. Hate for you to drive all the way there and find out the hard way.

used to be my favorite lake 20 years ago , went 3 times this year … caught a few little ones , nothing to speak of …. be careful , the depth out in the middle goes from 15' to 2' with no warning in several areas ….. hard on props for sure …a lot better places to fish in that area ….

Is there a lake contour map we can use on a fishfinder or GPS for this lake?

It is mostly shallow, and there are some roadbeds here and there. Pretty easy to see from where they come down into the water.

We used to fish it the most by going right out from the ramp, fishing around the island and then back in the coves that had timber. Crankbaits worked great in the timber, but it has been since about 1999 since I've been there. There was a old bridge and roadbed in the cove behind the island. Google maps shows things fairly well if you can't find a map.

Is it really even worth goin there ? I can drive 1.5 hours north and be there or I can drive 1.5 hours south and be at kentucky lake.
I think I will go south without a doubt.
its a shame , that place was awesome

    Be better off going south.
Call the biologist from that district, he has reliable info.
Bottom line, water temps way to hot in the summer, for bass to survive.
We need a lake like Newton (Illinois), here.
