Which motor??
RT188 with a 115, I would think not really much difference between manufacture. With 32 gal and a 150 on 198 not really an issue but nice to know.
Great question. I would like to hear from someone with a Mercury 115 Four Stroke.
I too would think that with todays technology they would be close as far as engine manufactures on a same size motor for fuel consumption.
(I was told you pretty much NEVER have to put gas in and the fish simply WANT to be in a Ranger so catching is much easier as well! )
I'm going from a 1998 225 EFI to a 2017 115 Four Stroke. Pretty sure I will be using less gas!
2017 Ranger RT188, Dual Console, Crystal Red Metallic, Mercury 115 Pro XS Four Stroke, Command Thrust with Tempest 24P, 52 MPH GPS @ 5200 RPM
Motor Guide 80 lb Xi5 Pin Point/GPS , Lowrance HDS 7 w/Totalscan @ Console, Lowrance Elite 7 TI @ Bow; Romans 6:23
I don't have a four stroke but the following chart gives operating parameters for my 115 2 Stroke Optimax. For my engine and operating conditions, I would figure 5.0 MPG for Range calculations.
I try to drive as if my 16 year old Grandson is following me

RT188 with Mercury 115 4 stroke and 19p Spitfire X7, typical fishing load, three group 31 AGM batteries, 400 lbs or so of people, 3/4 to half tank of fuel, running 1/2 to 3/4 throttle most of the time, I seem to be getting about 7 MPG. Now if you do any wide open throttle running it greatly increases fuel consumption.
WOT I burn 7 gph at 38-40 mph. So I would say my Max is 17 gallons /7gph = 2.43 hours X 38 mph = 92.29 miles
Of course I could go more but it's a safe measure to plan for Max usage.
Most of my fishing is river, spot to spot, with little idle. In the Lowe Stinger and now, the sweet spot is 5000rpm. A typical run ends up 25-30 minutes out and back and I usually burn 5-7 gallons.

Here is some posted data I got from a quick google search. http://www.boatingmag.com/boats/ranger-rt188c
Edit: Sorry that was not a fourstroke. I would think it would do better but I do not know that for sure.
If you check Mercury's boat house I bet they have the 115 with the crestliner equivalent of the 188. Their report on the Crestliner version of the 178 w/75 4S matches my experience. From the link below you should be able to navigate to the right boat / engine.

I think you will get from 4 to 7 miles per gallon depending upon how fast you are driving. Faster driving eats more gas. If you can run about 3500 RPM and concentrate on efficiency, you will get up in the 7 range. I can tell a difference with mine if I run at WOT. Where you run the RPMs has always made a big difference on any outboard I ever owned. It is lesser of a difference with the Yamaha, but it is still there.
