OK....AK-47 Debate!!

Which one is the best representation of it's heritage? We all know that a Russian named Kalashnikov designed/built right at the end of WWII (Automatic Kalashnikov). After the Warsaw Pact, expansion literally went Global. At one time there were over 30 countries producing the AK-47 (and variants) & well over 60 countries using them in there own military. Unfortunately most are building them w/o proper licensing.


Russian built SKS or the AKM? More recently the RAS-47


Zastava M70-PAP......originally Yugoslavian plant (formerly). Serbian plant now.


Romanian WASR-10, Originally called the Pistol Mitraliera (PM63/65) model.



There are a lot of replicated one now a days that have been updated & modernized. But just trying to see what you guys think?>

The wasr-10 seems to get a lot of respect. I don't know much about them, but those three are mentioned a lot. Replicas that is.

No AK, but I do have a numbers matching Norinco SKS. Poor man's deer rifle.
Would have gotten an AK, but they were stupid priced at the flea market.
Love my SKS. Looks like a real badazz with a 30 rnd mag. lol
Good shooting gun, cheap ammo and puts holes in things.

It's on the bucket list, but many others are ahead of it. I like those worn (rebuilds?) with wood furniture.

I am not much of an AK guy but I am a military gun guy. Personally I like the Yugo M70 PAP. I don't think the WASR is one of the better AK style guns as I have heard plenty of negativity about it. Not sure if that is from AR snobs or based on performance. If I was going to buy this type of gun it would be a Yugo.
