Installing GPS at Console Looking For Bracket Ideas

I'm looking for recommendations on what bracket to use to mount unit at console. The boat is a 20XD and the unit is a Garmin 93sv. My thought is to install on the side of the windshield. I know nothing about which mounts are better than the next. I found a mount on Cabelas made by Ram its their 2 pivot swing arm mount. Is this a good choice or is there a better style or brand? Also how's the best way to mount the transducer?

    Thanks Kraig

If you decide on a Ram Ball Mount, I suggest you get the 2.25 in ball.... Size "D"

if you are mounting it in the trough next to the windshield I'd say the balzout mount is hands down the best one. You can order it with a base to fit that trough. Call Chris at rockdale. He can get you what you need.

I like this to keep from drilling directly into the top cap.

Ill get a pic of my side mount sometime. Just picture it mounted on the vynyl texture between your keyswitch and shifter. That sidewall is pretty reinforced because of the shifter. Mine is mounted about 1/2" down from where the vynyl texture starts and i used 1/4-20 SS socket head cap screws and lock nuts with fender washers on the back.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the side wall mount. That area gets congested with the shifter in "F" position and I dont like how it makes the switch panel look and operate.

I had one mounted on the side wall. It does clutter everything up and it shakes way too much for my liking.

Here's a pic of one mounted on the inside. It works good but does cover the switches just a little.
